How long will it take me to relearn Spanish?
Spanish, is a Romantic (indo European) language spoken by roughly 360 million people throughout the globe as a native language. Mexico had the most speakers in the early XXI century (over 85 million), followed by Colombia (more than 40 million), Argentina (over 35 million), the USA (more than 31 million) and Spain (more than 30 million).
Let’s understand how long would it take to relearn Spanish:
If you wish to relearn a language, then that would mean you are already well-versed with the basics of that language. Therefore, in my opinion, it honestly shouldn’t take you a lot of time to brush up on a few things and relearn the language. First things first, note down all the things that you remember well. All those things don’t require much practice and learning. Secondly, note down those things that require light brushing up and quick reading. Finally, note down those aspects of the language, you’ve completely forgotten. With that out of the way, you can start your journey to relearn Spanish.
Step 1 would be to quickly go through all things you already remember. Just practice them once. Say, you remember how to speak, then maybe deliver a quick speech in Spanish, or talk to a friend in Spanish. Say, you remember clearly how to read, then quickly grab any Spanish literature and read it once. Next up, all things that require quick brushing up, there’s no need to dwell too much over these things, but definitely practise them more than once. Don’t advance to the forgotten section yet. Before we approach those, in my opinion, once brush up on your grammar and spelling as well. That’ll only help you when you finally advance to the forgotten stuff. Now to tackle the bear. Once, you’re sure that these are the only things you’re left with, start practising them. Learn them like it’s the first time you’ve approached those problems. Re-learning is not hard as long as you have an open mind. According to my, the quick brushing up should not take a lot of time. With that said, depending on how much you’ve forgotten, you’re going to have to put an equivalent amount of effort and time. The time taken solely depends on you on a personal level, since there are tons of factors to consider. Set clear and logical goals and don’t lead yourself to a burnout by overstressing yourself. Utilize all your resources extremely wisely and practice daily. With all these points, I’m sure you can relearn Spanish in no time.
