Japanese is one of the most popular Asian languages in the world, despite its reputation as one of the most difficult languages for native English speakers to master.
Its appeal may be linked to the vivid and attractive culture that supports it, as well as the Japanese entertainment industry, which has expanded tremendously over the years and has become particularly popular in Europe and the West. In fact, it is spoken by around 128 million people all across the world.
See if learning the language of Japanese is an advantage in Europe.
Many individuals tend to learn a specific language in their lifetime so as to be able to avail the benefits all the advantages of the said language has to offer. With that said, sometimes the plan that you might have said a few years back could change. This means that the language that you had prepared for could be either more useful or could not be useful anymore.
In this blog, we will discuss whether the language of Japanese is useful in the continent of Europe or whether you would have to choose a different language altogether so as to be able to enjoy adequate benefits.
Personally, I do not believe that Learning Japanese is an advantage in Europe. Japanese is an extremely popular language in Asian countries but is not as popular in Europe or in the western world. Although Japanese culture is very widespread and globally renowned, the language itself is not commonly used in European countries or in the western world. This is simply because the western world of the European world generally tends to utilise languages like English, French, German or Spanish. Most of the global industries which originate from the western world or from the European world preferred these four languages over the Asian languages.
Hence, in my personal opinion, if you are trying to work in Europe in industries, I strongly suggest learning the language of either French or German as that is more prominently utilised in Europe.
On the other hand, if you plan on working in Japanese MNCs or Asian MNCs in Europe, then Japanese could be helpful to you. With that said I cannot guarantee the same. As previously mentioned I strongly suggest learning French or German if your primary focus is simply working in Europe.
Throughout this blog, we have explored all the different reasons why the language of Japanese is for obvious reasons not an advantage in Europe.
Considering the population of Europe and the most commonly spoken languages in Europe, the language of French, German or Portuguese would be a better language to master if you are searching for a job or thinking about expanding your career in Europe. While Japanese is a great language to master, it would be more useful in the Asian countries rather than European countries.
