Around a 65million people speak Italian as their first language and the rest 3 million speak Italian as their second language. Learning a foreign language is in vogue these days as it adds weightage to your resume and also makes your settling opportunities abroad even brighter. As a foodie, I feel Italian cuisine is world-famous and thus if you are into Hotel management or tourism then learning Italian would definitely add a feather to your cap.

1. Udemy- Udemy offers online courses for beginners for learning Italian. You will have instant access to 41 lectures packed into 8 hours of on-demand video and 34 downloadable resources. Your complete demo lessons and quizzes to demonstrate your comprehension of the material presented in the lessons. The price will slowly increase once you grasp this beginner level and approach towards Intermediate or advanced.
2. Rosetta stone- This particular site has been an ‘old hand’ into the business of language learning and thus has made a name for itself. It has a speech recognition program that makes you sound like a native, with a yearly or monthly subscription fee. You can work through the material as classes are available offline too.
3. Youtube videos- Now if you don’t want to commit money at the first go or probably you want to check if you are really interested in Italian or not, then Youtube is your best bet. Here you may get endless videos regarding the basics of Italian, however, for a formal approach you should think about hiring a professional trainer. One word of caution would be, Youtube has a bundle of videos and sometimes we have to be careful about the authenticity of the language pattern taught to us, so please do your research thoroughly.
4. Multibhashi– It is an ed-tech platform, where you can not only hire a professional trainer but also get a free demo of your trainer. The material will be designed as per your requirement and will be shared with you, along with the regular session recordings. As a company, it is always open to feedback and maintains a transparent approach.

6. Duolingo- It’s a great app for beginners as it uses a gaming method for learning Italian. Constant encouragement is provided plus lessons are sometimes as small as 5mins. No wonder it has been chosen as the most fun online learning tool.
7. Italki- it’s a unique app where you will find trainers taking skype-like online sessions for Italian. There are tons of registered tutors and it mainly focuses on speaking and that is the best part as we all want a language for speaking. In fact, there are features where you can upload your homework and the tutor can check it online. The conversation level of the trainer will increase as you slowly proceed from beginner to intermediate and so on.
8. Memrise- If you are a true game lover then you would love this app. So, if you are willing to spend fruitful screen-time, then you will have to ward off aliens by uttering correct Italian vocabulary. That’s how intriguing it is!

Babbel Italian- It is also an app-based program and many claims that it is ideal for beginners for learning Italian, however for advanced or intermediate trainees may soon outgrow the courses offered. It checks your level and chooses the appropriate module and ensures the reinforcement of the key concepts. There are a plethora of lessons available regarding Italian grammar and vocabulary.
