What do you do when your Oriya class is hard?
Odia is an Indo-Aryan spoken in the Indian state of Odisha(formerly Orissa), previously known as Oriya. It is an official language where 82 per cent of the population speaks it as their mother tongue. The languages are also spoken in West Bengal, Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh. The language is an official language of Odisha and the 2nd another official language of Jharkhand. It is one of India’s many scheduled languages. In Chhattisgarh, at least one million people speak the language too.
Oriya is a beautiful language that requires a lot of practice and effort.
At the same time, it also requires professional guidance and therefore a professional class. If you want to be enrolled on a class that teaches you Oriya, then you are already a step ahead in your journey of learning the language. With that said we cannot forget the age-old notion of putting in personal efforts along with paying attention within the class. If your goal was to only enrol within classes and not put in any personal efforts, then to be very honest with you, you have been wasting your time. You cannot learn any language by just enrolling on classes.
You still have to contribute and dedicate an immense amount of time as well as effort on your own. With that said, if your language class seems too hard for you to keep up with, then I suggest having a conversation with your guide regarding the same. A professional guide always understands and caters to the needs of the students. They thoroughly understand when a student requires specific attention and when they do not. Do not feel embarrassed to approach your guide, as there is nothing to be embarrassed about. You are a student and are in the process of learning the language, hence your understanding is paramount. In fact, your guide will understand the same and help you out.
Depending on what you are unable to grasp, your guide will prescribe you literature or other means of learning the language. With that said, there might be times when your guide fails to understand your situation or help you out. In that case I strongly suggest opting for new classes or changing your guide. Your guide and your classes are very important in the process of learning this language due to its rare nature. This language is very difficult to master on your own as there aren’t enough resources to gather. Hence your classes play an extremely important role.
