The Japanese language is one of the world’s major languages, with more than 127 million speakers, so learning Japanese only makes sense!
It is primarily spoken throughout the Japanese and also some 1.5 million Japanese immigrants mainly in North and South America. No other nation other than Japan has used Japanese as a first or a second language.
Let’s now see when learnign Japanese what are the reasons why high school Japanese classes are so terrible
Timings for High school
High school Japanese classes have 8-9 classes/day from Monday to Friday. The classes begin at around 7:30 am and end at around 6 pm. Sometimes High school students have classes on Saturdays too. Students are also expected to study outside the classes all day. They end up spending their entire day in studies which leads the students to frustration.
Subjects in an academic year
In a comprehensive high school students have to take around 14 subjects in an academic year for subjects such as English, Maths, Chemistry, Physics, Biology, classes from World History or Politics Economics, Ethics, Geography, Geoscience or Music or Art, etc Too many subjects doesn’t allow them to pay attention to even a single one properly.
Cleaning procedure
Japanese high school students have cleaning time in their classrooms. Every student is assigned with a timetable for a position to clean the classroom for about 10-15 min on every school day. That adds up to physical strain in addition to the mental stress of so much to study.
Boring classes
Lessons in these high schools can be quite boring that consist mostly of the teacher lecturing and students taking notes. Separately, few of the students will work towards college admissions and this is a separate course of study in schools which will be equal to regular school and involves private tutoring for 2–4 hours for many evenings all week. College preparation in high schools has a regular school curriculum to cover all the final year’s content before the several months itself. this leaves very little recreational time to stay alert and attentive.
Examination
Examination in the high school curriculum is very demanding and very stressful. This will make most of the families not take a vacation, and many will not go for a year before. Many of the high schools conduct many examinations often, in addition to the normal exams that are conducted in the schools increasing mental stress amongst students.
Very tough time
High school in Japan is known to be a very tough time for kids. The syllabus in the high schools seems to be difficult for all the students, where it is compared to the college-level coursework. Students who speak a completely different language or come from not so privileged backgrounds find it more difficult to learn in high school and this can be difficult for language exchange between students. In high schools, the students’ mistakes are almost accepted and more or less overlooked, so there’s no scope of corrections to help them improve.
Finally, Japanese high school life is very different from American high school life owing to the basic cultural difference and especially due to honorifics involved!
Whereas being outspoken and participating is highly encouraged in American schools the case isn’t the same when compared to Japanese schools where it’s considered rude. If you want to learn Japanese then join your classes with Multibashi to learn the language easily in no time. All the best!!
