Vinesh Phogat, the first Indian woman wrestler to win Asiad gold, got married to her longtime boyfriend, Somvir Rathee, on Thursday. Rathee is a former national-level wrestler. The marriage took place in Haryana’s Balali village following the traditional Hindu ceremonies. The couple took an extra eighth ‘phera’, while traditionally only seven are taken. They pledged to “save, teach the girl child and let her play” in their eighth ‘phera’.
