French, Language, Education, Foreign

Throughout history, French has proven to be one of the most important languages in the world. It’s not only influential but also considered to be a super globalised language. In fact, the language is currently used by international courts. Furthermore, France in itself is considered to be the fashion, business and cultural hub of the world apart from being the love capital of the globe. French is also known as the language of love and hence an excellent language for anybody aspiring to master a new foreign language.

Let’s now understand what DELF or Diplôme d’Études en Langue Française is all about.

This certification is considered to be one of the most prestigious examinations in the world. In fact, it is awarded by the French Ministry of Education in close collaboration with CIEP or the Centre International d’études pédagogique.

Along with DALF, this is the only non-native proficiency test.

The exam in itself follows a six level system where in each of the fluency levels are awarded their own specific designations, with the final level qualifying for the ultimate proficiency in the language.

Furthermore, this qualification is valid life long. Essentially, you’d never have to re- take the examination once you’ve passed the same.

How does this system work?

Exam, Teacher, Board, Chalkboard

While the DELF examination is undoubtedly an excellent choice, it is incomplete without the DALF examination to achieve complete proficiency in the language. This is because DELF examination only focuses and provides for students between levels A1 to B2. (A1, A2, B1, B2) This examination is also compulsory for any individual who wishes to attempt the DALF examination.

Where is it held?

The DELF examination is held all across India by Alliance Française. DELF is conducted in the following important metropolitan cities such as Chandigarh, Delhi, Jaipur, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Indore, Bhopal, Mumbai, Pune, Panjim, Bangalore, Bangalore, Chennai, Coimbatore, Hyderabad, Pondicherry, Mysore, Mangalore, Trichy, and Trivandrum.
