অর্থ
Conjunctions হল সেইসব শব্দ যেগুলি একাধিক খণ্ডবাক্য (clauses) বা বাক্যকে যুক্ত করতে ব্যবহৃত হয়। এগুলিকে “joining words” ও বলা হয়। Conjunctions এর কিছু উদাহরণ যেগুলি আপনি হয়ত দেখে থাকবেন বা সহজেই বুঝতে পারবেনঃ
They knocked down all the buildings and built a football stadium.
Are there three or four people living in that apartment?
My sneakers look great but are not very easy to wear.

Coordinating Conjunctions
এগুলি ব্যাকরণগত ভাবে একই শ্রেণীর শব্দাদির মধ্যে সংযোগ স্থাপন করে। And, but, or ইত্যাদি কিছু বহুল ব্যবহৃত coordinating conjunctions। নিচে বিভিন্ন ধরনের coordinating conjunctions এর উদাহরণ দেওয়া হলঃ

Neither….. nor একটি two word conjunction যেটা প্রথম বাক্যটিতে ব্যবহার করা হয়েছে। Both.. and হল অপর একটি two word conjunction।

Subordinating conjunctions
Subordinating Conjunctions হল সেইসব conjunctions যেগুলি main clause এবং subordinate clause এর মধ্যে সংযোগ স্থাপন করে। একটি উদাহরণের সাহায্যে এটি আরো পরিষ্কারভাবে বোঝা যাবেঃ
After we had talked over the telephone, I jotted down what we had discussed.

Everyone enjoyed the movie although it had no proper story-line.
