Introduction
By following a few simple rules, I was able to achieve more than I could have dreamed in the one year I dedicated to learning Spanish. I’ll go over the six greatest ways to learn Spanish on your own, without lessons or courses, in the sections below. All of these ways can be done from the comfort of your own home, as you will notice. I honestly believe that somebody living in Topeka, Kansas, can learn Spanish as quickly as someone living in Buenos Aires, Argentina. As a matter of fact, I am aware of this.
Ways to learn:
1 Find online tutuor
If you only do one thing in your pursuit for Spanish fluency, I would recommend focusing on this strategy. When compared to time spent in a traditional classroom, having an online tutor will triple your results. You might wonder why. In a classroom setting, multiple pupils (all learning at various rates) are taught at the same time.
In one class session, you might have a number of speaking exchanges at most.
An online tutoring session, on the other hand, is entirely focused on you, the student. Because you are the focal point of the class, you will do the speaking and listening.
2 Speak to native speakers
Another wonderful and cost-free approach to learn Spanish is through language exchanges. You can communicate with someone from Spain from anywhere in the world, unlike at any other moment in history, as long as you have an internet connection. I’ve met some incredible people from all around the world. Simply tell a natural Spanish speaker, “Let’s spend the first 30 minutes conversing in English, then the next 30 minutes speaking in Spanish. The length of time can vary, but the key thing is that you make new acquaintances. I also discovered that many of my Latin acquaintances were content to spend their time speaking Spanish and merely needed a friend to communicate with.
3 Use flashcards
Flashcards are an excellent way to learn new words. You can utilize various excellent flashcard apps directly from your smartphone It’s critical that you don’t just use any old flashcards to study. Make sure to utilize a flashcard app that has spaced repetition software built-in. An example of an app is called Anki. Take note of how you can choose whether or not you want to see the card in four days. On my phone, I use the Anki app, which I adore. Anki is fantastic since it allows you to choose which flashcards you understand and which you don’t. The programme saves the flashcards for the words you know well for a month or two.
4 Listen to Podcast
Podcasts are convenient since you can listen to them while doing mundane tasks such as walking the dog or washing the laundry. Basically, anything that doesn’t take your whole focus is ideal for listening to a Podcast episode. The Podcast app for iOS and the Stitcher app for Android make it simple to download or stream free episodes. For those who prefer to hear the Spanish language spoken, there are a number of excellent podcasts available.
5 Read Spanish books
This one can be challenging. It was so challenging that I often ignored it in the beginning of my studies. Why not try reading a book in Spanish if you enjoy reading?
I did this with the Narnia series, and while I didn’t understand every word, I got the gist of it and had just as much fun as I would have had reading it in English. Rather than going through every single phrase I didn’t understand (which would take forever), I looked up the frequently used words. Who’d have guessed that the Spanish word “enano” meant “dwarf”? If this method is too frightening for you, simply select a favorite book in the Spanish translation. These days, almost every popular book is translated into Spanish.
6 Write in Spanish
Do you keep a daily diary?
Why not attempt writing at least half of it in Spanish if you already do? This is an excellent approach to exercise your mind and encourage you to utilize and create new terms. It should be written down I made a goal for myself early on to compose half a page of my ideas in Spanish every morning. During my normal study period, I performed this at the same hour every day. I made myself use new words I’d learned from my flashcard software. Then, after writing them down, I made sure to apply them later in the day in my interactions with my Spanish tutor.
Finally, the greatest path is the one that you enjoy the most and can grow in consistently. That meant making time to speak with native speakers on a regular basis for me. Join Multibhashi to master Spanish.
