Introduction

Italian language or lingua Italiana is a Romance language of the Indo-European language family. By most measures and together with Sardinian, Italian is the closest language to Latin, from which it descends via Vulgar Latin. Italian is an official language in Italy, Switzerland, San Marino, and Vatican City. It has official minority status in western Istria. It formerly had official status in Albania, Malta, Monaco, Montenegro, Greece, and is generally understood in Corsican by Corsican speakers (many linguists classify it as an Italian dialect). It also used to be an official language in the former Italian East Africa and Italian North Africa, where it still plays a significant role in various sectors. Large expatriate communities also speak Italian in the Americas and Australia. Italian is included under the languages covered by the European Charter for Regional or Minority languages in Bosnia and Herzegovina and in Romania, although Italian is neither a co-official nor a protected language in these countries. Many speakers of Italian are native bilinguals of both Italian (either in its standard form or regional varieties) and other regional languages.

Learning Italian is a good choice. It helps you in many ways like if you travel to Italy, you want to study in Italy, you desire to do a job in Italy etc. Learning Italian is not that difficult for anyone. You can learn from the basics and most importantly, you have a hard willingness to learn a language. Your learning depends on your interest, confidence, dedication and most importantly, patience. People of any age can learn Italian. Age doesn’t matter to learn any language whenever you are 30 years old or above; you only have to be self-confident.

1.Multibhashi

Multibhashi is one of the most famous language learning apps on the internet. Multi-Bhasi provides online classes to learn the Italian language, and it offers the perfect online courses for beginners and people of any age. Multibhashi provides a well trained teacher. They give their best to teach you whatever your age is. There are two main ways to get to know Italian with MultiBhashi, either by signing up for the series of one-to-one online sessions or also you have an option of webinar classes.

2.Forvo

Forvo is the best app on the internet to learn Italian. They provide quality teaching with highly trained teachers personally to all their members.

It is a great website to practice your Italian pronunciation and learn some useful words and phrases. All the pronunciation on Forvo is recorded by native speakers from different parts of Italy. Some words like ‘gnocchi’ have over a dozen recordings you can listen to.

You can use Forvo to search for various Italian words, or you can take a look at some of the useful words and phrases grouped by topic, like ‘Drinks’ or ‘Shopping’.

3.Memrise

Memrise is a flashcard app that focuses on a language’s words and phrases, with bits of grammar, listening, and pronunciation. It features a great Italian course from creators of the app as well as various courses on different topics created by other users. 

Note: the full range of courses is available in the browser version only, but as soon as you start a course it also becomes available to you in the app. Some of the features available or unlockable with a paid subscription differ from version to version (web, iOS, Android).

4.Duolingo

Duolingo is a language learning app that features a free Italian course that can take you from zero to about intermediate level. If you already know some Italian, you can start with a short test that will determine your level and allow you to skip some of the easier lessons.

Each topic on Duolingo is divided into short lessons that you can complete in 5-10 minutes, which allows you to do as much or as little Italian in one sitting as you’d like. The vocabulary and grammar you’ll learn are somewhat limited, but that’s okay if you just need to learn the basics.

5.Fluent in 3 months

Fluent in 3 months is a website created by Benny, an Irish polyglot. Benny and other authors he invites to the site write about multiple languages, not just Italian and it is a treasure trove for any learner. Here you will find language learning hacks and tips, success stories from other learners, collections of great language learning materials, useful phrases, and many more. Just use the search bar to find the articles focused on Italian in particular – and you are good to go.
