Okay, this should get it nailed!
Which language is also an official language of Switzerland besides German French and Romansch. Give yourself a pat on your back if you guessed it likely to be Italian if not, I would like to take this opportunity to introduce you to the Italian language.
Let’s see why is Italian so famous!
The first and foremost reason why the Italian language is famous is due to the country that patronizes it. When people world over started eating Pasta and Pizzas or Gelato, they weren’t quite aware of the language of the country it came from. This is especially true for the middle eastern and the far Eastern countries. However sooner than later the words, Italian cuisine started appearing in all the restaurants that offered pizzas pasta and Gelato. And thus began a search for this hidden gem called Italy. After one milestone when people began hunting for more pizzas pasta and Gelato recipes they stumbled upon a new language and culture that was responsible for these delicacies. Italian! And thus began a journey to learn Italian the various different reasons by a number of people who got attracted towards the language. This attraction was as classic as the one that can be compared to the people learning Japanese due to anime, or people learning Korean and Chinese due to K-Dramas, K-Pop and C drama.
Other than foodies, there were also people interested in learning and knowing history for the sake of higher studies, professions such as anthropologist, historian or even as a hobby. This gave them all a chance to discover the beautiful ancient culture of the Roman empire, one that of the strongest empires in the world, and, that formed the backbone of the other western cultures.
Besides being a commonly used language in France (the Alps and Côte d’Azur) and in small communities in Croatia and Slovenia.
Italian is spoken by about 66.6K people
in Ticino and Graubünden (Grisons) cantons. The Tuscan dialect of the Italian language is also spoken on Corsica island despite Italian not being their cultural language. In the rest of the world dialects of Italian or spoken as people do not have knowledge of the standard Italian which was once widely used in Somalia and Malta. Italian was once used in Libya as well but its use has died down ever since.
Of the numerous other reasons that make the Italian language famous are the largest number of UNESCO heritage sites. Italy is an intriguing country with picturesque mountains, stunning landscapes and a beautiful coastline. This very tiny region has a lot to offer, from rolling Tuscan wineries to the beautiful Amalfi shore and Trentino Dolomite.
Florence, Rome and Venice are cities that are certain to find their way into every avid traveller’s bucket list, thus making Italy a dream destination for people all across the world
Knowing the Italian language would help you explore the many hidden unexplored destinations which would otherwise be unavailable on a tourist destination map.
It may not seem very obvious, but Italian is a great and effective way to discover the beauty of Italy.
Italian is a musical and melodious language that has ever since been linked to the world of art, architecture, fashion, film, design, literature, music, opera, wine, food and exotic culture. It is not difficult to see the influence Italian has had in all these areas all across the world! If the Italian language has captured the hearts of the world through the Florence of Dante, Giotto, Michelangelo, Raffaello, Leonardo Da Vinci, Titian, Caravaggio and Bernini, Italy has conquered the world with names such as Amerigo Vespucci, Marco Polo, John Cabot, Christopher Columbus!
The first internationally acclaimed fashion show took place in Florence Italy in 1951.
However, in the last few years, Milan is regarded as the principal sartorial hub in Italy housing the leading brands of the world such as Prada, Gucci, Versace, Armani, Dolce & Gabbana and Valentino, in the city’s high-end shopping district, known as the Quadrilatero d’Oro.
The Italian language helps you learn and understand the Italian lifestyle. Given that you may be accustomed to seeing some Italian names in Italian restaurants in your country around you, know, that will not be sufficient enough for you to know what you are eating. For all, you know when you may be eating angry spaghetti when you order a spaghetti arrabbiata. It is also very easy to see how all the classical pizza names, or words related to the process of brewing coffee, and music are still spoken in Italian all over the world. This is possible only because the Italian language has indeed shaped these words.
Another very important reason why the Italian language is famous is that it is far easier to learn than other Western and Asian languages. It would definitely bring along its own set of confusion, to begin with just like any other language, however, once the word sounds and their distinct pronunciation start settling in your head, you would instinctively be able to pick up new words and phrases. This probably is also accredited due to the fact that Italian has stayed truly closer to Latin than any other language to date. So even if you may not be able to instantly speak the language you would be able to understand a lot of Italian.
Language such as Italian would also help you see yourself develop more as you gather more information about a new culture and its traditions.
A part of all the aforementioned reasons is that Italian is also learnt for professional reasons especially by people aiming for a career in fashion, design, fine arts, culinary arts etc.
People across the world are also learning Italian to be a part of the luxury and sports car brands and businesses such as Fiat, Alfa Romeo, Pagani, Maserati, Ferrari, Lamborghini, etc. Italy is also making the renowned scooter Vespa, which you will see across the nation.
The Italian language also radiates through il Calcio, or as it’s most commonly known as football! It is a sport that is taken way too seriously in Italy. Teams from the top League Series A have won the World Cup four times and attract some of the world’s top (and most well-paid) players. Their inability to qualify for the tournament in 2018 while playing against Sweden was met with a wave of disbelief for it to have happened for the first time in 40 years!
While there are no sources to prove it, but Italians could have been the reason sign languages were discovered. Italians happily let their hands talk with about 250 gestures in daily conversations according to a study. A casual swipe of your fingers outwards from under your chin could mean ‘I couldn’t care less’ or pinch your fingers and move your hand up and down, say ‘What’s it about?’
Finally,
Italian is not only helpful to speak to clients, business partners, suppliers, etc. if you wish to work in one of these well-known companies of Italy, but also to get a decent paying job. Today, companies from around the world work and communicate with each other in a range of different languages on a much more global and international scale. As a consequence, employers are now looking for prospective employees who speak and know more than one language, and people who speak Italian or other languages are often found in better paid and more powerful jobs.
