Here are some simple methods to learn German by yourself without going to classes.
Hear and Repeat German Letter Sounds
First, learn the German alphabet by listening to how each letter is pronounced. Listen to the difference between English and German letter sounds as both the language are cognates.

Pay attention to the letters, as it changes the way a letter is pronounced, and therefore changes the way words can pronounce.
Framework the Words
After learning the alphabet and letter sounds, start to learn some “framework words.” These words are easy and common that will form the basis of your vocabulary building.
There are words that you cannot do without in English and think about those words look up their German equivalents. Few words are:
- German greetings
- Please/thank you
- Excuse me/sorry

Now you can start learning some basic German phrases. Similar to single words, begin practising simple phrases that you might speak on an average day.
