Art education
Art education is not considered necessary in India because very few people in our country pursue it. And the people who pursue it are very less, and thus the recognition is also significantly less. In art as they have financed issues to settle with art. Generally, middle-class people have a mentality like their children should become doctors, engineers, scientists, chartered accountants and get well paid for the future. The middle-class problem is that they are too engrossed in worldly comforts and busy with day-to-day challenges. Middle-class people have fewer earnings, so they first think about necessities. They have a mindset like they have spent lots of money on their children’s education, so after all, they want their children to be on any standard post.
Why art is considered as not necessary in India ?
Why in India, a career in arts is looked down upon? But then, I realized it’s never going to work. People here don’t even care to know that there’s also a career beyond engineers and doctors, which could also earn you respect and money to survive.
It’s not about the common or the rich. The rich could let their child give it a try, not caring about the outcome. The ordinary people don’t have enough money and time to hit and try. they want their children to be self-dependent and earn fixed salaries to be self-sufficient. The mentality here is that if a child is studying in a good school and has given 12years into studies, he cannot afford to waste the next ten years struggling to make his way out in art as a career. MAYBE THEY ARE NOT WRONG. India is a place where there’s not much scope in the fields of fine arts. After doing a Ph.D. in fine arts, you could probably become a professor, and that is not what artists want.
Knowledge of arts and craft among Indians is significantly less.
Unfortunately, very few people in India are aware of art and craft. Even in India, only few people knew how this art and craft industry works and how they operate. The reason behind this is Indian art and craft operates in an unorganized sector. And also, India is not a fully developed country yet. Unfortunately, there is even thinking among urban Indians to categorize anything as rural as inadequate and/or inferior.”
Important information regarding art
For the people who think art is useless or can’t make a career in the art stream, you feel this is wrong. Because many people become famous and of course wealthy in art only and now their paintings are also so valuable. In the ’60s, a lot of people became rich. Rather than buy a bigger house or another car, they bought art to elevate and distinguish themselves, and the expensive art market was born.
Some people love art and purchase on that basis. Most people like art and want something that looks good in their home, makes them feel good when they see it, and will cause the people who visit them to go “WOW.” People in India are not precisely aware of art streams, but if we talk about other countries, people love art so much, and also, they want to build their career in art. Very few people don’t give a crap about art and only care about investment and others’ reactions. To enjoy art, there is no class; it appeals to everyone. But not all rich can appreciate art, the wealthy type who appreciate art is called the elite. Please keep in mind that many people find skill useless and just non-essential in life, so they won’t spend any money on it, no matter how convincing they sell.
By far, the majority of people genuinely choose art because they have at least some feeling or preference for it – even if they don’t know much about art. Of course, they would like a good reaction to it also – and of course, if they pay good money for it, they consider investment, but they also like it. And I say this from the perspective of being an art dealer for many decades.
Conclusion:
An art stream is also good to build your career; no doubt, you can easily earn money if you are a great artist. People, no matter what their financial status, prefer art that moves them. Art either speaks to one, or it doesn’t. You can’t sell the art, and the art sells itself.
