• Arabic has a whole bunch of words – a lot of them mean the same thing, and the same thing has many words for it. It belongs to the Semitic family of languages, so if you only know English, you may find that there is hardly anything similar to English (vocabulary and grammar).

•  It has a huge vocabulary: while in English a word can have several synonyms with slight differences, Arabic sometimes has over 10 synonyms of one word.
•  Modern Standard Arabic is 10 times harder than colloquial Arabic: because of the many dialects in the Middle East. The Levant, for example, has a closer-to-Modern-Standard-Arabic language, while Egyptian Arabic is far from MSA, and has thus made it difficult for Egyptians to know their language right.
