Well, I think it depends on 4 factors, namely-
- What’s your goal?– Do you only want to learn conversational English or you want to pursue a profession in the English language such as a translator? That will obviously make a difference as the level of comprehension of the English language greatly differs in both situations. Conversational English requires less fluency as compared to professional English.
- What’s your native language?– If you speak any of the Romance language or Germanic language, then you would likely find it easier to learn English as it bears a lot of similarities with both types of languages. Even the alphabets are the same, so one doesn’t have to learn a whole new set of writing style which would be impossible for Hindi, Chinese, etc
- What’s your method? – How are you actually planning to learn this language? With the help of language apps, online courses, personal tutors? Or maybe on your own? Or maybe through a combination of all the above?
- Are you consistent?– Have you thought about how much time you are going to allot to your studying? Are you going to follow through with it every day without fail?

Try to form full sentences. Don’t focus too much on the technical parts such as grammar and try to speak nonetheless. Before speaking, form the sentence in your mind first, so that you are able to speak it easily. Stand in front of a mirror and talk to yourself. Don’t be afraid to make mistakes and don’t be embarrassed if you do make them and you certainly will, as they are the first step in learning anything new.
