Introduction
The Kannada language is a Dravidian language spoken predominantly by the people of Karnataka in the southwestern region of India. The language is also spoken by linguistic minorities in the states of Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Kerala and Goa; and also by Kannadigas abroad. The language had roughly 43 million native speakers by 2011. Kannada is also spoken as a second and third language by over 12.9 million non-native speakers in Karnataka, which adds up to 56.9 million speakers. It is one of the scheduled languages of India and the official and administrative language of the state of Karnataka. Kannada was the court language of some of the most powerful empires of South and Central India, such as the Chalukya dynasty, the Rashtrakuta dynasty, the Vijayanagara Empire and the Hoysala Empire.

Time is taken to learn
There are many factors that depend on learning Kannada. But at the age of 18, you must have to be dedicated to your learning. Time taken to learn depends on how you manage your time and how short time you will take to complete your everyday task related to Kannada learning.
To learn Kannada at a faster pace, make sure you focus on producing language (speaking, writing) as much as you focus on receiving language (reading, watching TV, listening to podcasts, playing with apps). Don’t make the common mistake of choosing one group over the other, which will make having a regular conversation almost impossible.
I would recommend devoting atleast 20-60 minutes a day to active Kannada practice. This could be writing a diary entry, having a speaking lesson, reading a simple news article and testing yourself for comprehension, or watching a video in Kannada to see how much you can understand.

With these simple steps, you can learn by Yourself at the age of 18. Always be motivated and confident in what you are doing.
Best of luck!!!
