Introduction 

Sanskrit is one of the ancient languages, used as a language of God in Hindu culture, and was of utmost religious importance. Not only in Hinduism but Sanskrit is also widely used in Jainism, Buddhism, and Sikhism. It is one of the most complex languages with a vast vocabulary. And it is still widely used today to read sacred documents. People today look at it with interest and it is taught and learned throughout the world by the people of various cultures and religions. Sanskrit being Brahma’s language was considered as a means of communication with God himself. Sacred texts, hymns such as Vedas, Upanishads and various other texts are written in Sanskrit. It is of great religious importance even today and people learn it especially in order to learn about India’s rich cultural heritage and the teachings of Vedas and Upanishads and other such texts. Apart from its historical and religious significance Sanskrit as a language has a very rich vocabulary and grammar. Its complexity makes it uniquely beautiful. It is one of those very few languages that haven’t changed in the course of time. It is still the same as it was. Apart from sacred texts, Sanskrit has a huge collection of classic and world-famous poetry, drama, philosophical and scientific texts. Moreover, Sanskrit also forms the base of various other languages where the words are derived from Sanskrit.

Sanskrit is a language that is complex yet has never changed over centuries. So in order to make progress, it is really important for you to learn the language’s basics right. It will take you a long way in the process of learning. As you will be constantly exposed to newer and complex words and sentences, basics will play a vital role in understanding and remembering them. Basics mean learning the Devanagari script thoroughly. It is not difficult however, it is very important. Apart from these you will also have to understand the vowels, consonants, and conjunct consonants and their usage in words as well as pronunciations. 

2. The next important thing

It’s getting the word building right. It is very important to learn the nouns, verbs and their various forms. This will help you understand the language. While moving forward with the language you are bound to come across complex sentences, but if you have already aced the word game it will not be so difficult for you. Of Course in the course of learning the language you will always come across new words and forms but it is important to understand the basic structure of word building and their significant forms. 

3. Another thing to move forward

In Sanskrit is to read and read a lot. No matter what, reading will help you expand your vocabulary and improve your understanding of the language. Sanskrit as a language has a complex vocabulary let alone sentences. Hence it is necessary to keep reading so that you can expand your vocabulary. Apart from that, Sanskrit has some different grammatical rules which can be quite tricky to understand and remember when it comes to using it in sentences. Reading will help you understand that and also help you make progress in the language.

4. Last but not the least

 Practicing yourself. Reading and learning is of no use after a period of time as you will not remember and will get confused if you do not keep practicing. The best way to practice is by writing things in Sanskrit. The basic practice can begin from writing Sanskrit letters, then forming simpler words and their meanings, then slowly moving forward to their usage in various sentences using different suffixes and prefixes and various verb and noun forms. After you have covered this stage you can move forward to writing essays and paragraphs on any given topic. That will help you build a structure that includes various types of sentences etc. this way, you will get a hold on whatever you are learning and will help you keep moving forward with the language.
