English
The native speakers, when added with the non-native speakers, makes English to be the most widely spoken language in this world. Thanks to British colonial period, English language has become a second language in many countries. This language of Germanic origin is close to many other European languages that have the same origin and thus are understood easily and spoken by many. It is a fact that every pilot flying in the world sky should know English and needs to identify himself in the said language. So, in a way, you can call English as the world language!
Spanish
Another language from the Indo-European group, Spanish is the official language in 21 nations across the world. The colonial period explains the fact that this language has reached its purview far and wide till South American countries.

German

Coming from the Sino-Tibetan family of languages, Mandarin Chinese has the second most speaking people in the world. While most of the speakers are native Chinese nationals and people from some neighboring countries, it is one of the six official languages of the United Nations. A very complex language to learn, Mandarin has the meaning of a word change by mere tonal changes. So, those intending to learn the language have to be very keen listeners and have to put in that extra tonal effort!
Arabic
Yet another popular language from the Middle East, Arabic has its origin in one of the oldest civilizations which is the Mesopotamian civilization, and very close to the languages from the region like Hebrew and Aramaic. One interesting aspect of this language is that unlike many other languages, Arabic is written from left to right. Arabic is another beautiful language to learn for people who wish to understand and appreciate the history and culture of the region
