Difficult in Kannada alphabets
If you start with the alphabet, you will be able to sound out unfamiliar words, then you do not know what they mean and what a word means. This can be a big problem for you, especially when you are trying to converse with a native speaker.
The Kannada alphabet consonant has an inherent vowel. These vowels are noted by marks placed above, below, before, or after the consonant. Here the vowels are only written as independent letters if they come at the beginning of a syllable. But similar to English letters are written from left to right in horizontal lines.

About the Kannada script
In Kannada, the script is tremendously different, but the consonant sounds are pronounced roughly the same way as their counterparts in English. There is no soft version of letters as there is in English especially the letter C.
The sounds in Kannada are often not equivalent to English because the sound is made with a different part of your mouth. You have to mimic native speakers in order to get your pronunciation right.
-
Double consonants
You have to practice double consonants. In addition to the individual consonants, Kannada has totally 6 double consonants. The most difficult part is that these consonants are not pronounced the way you will be expected in similar to the combination of letters to be pronounced in English. There are also near-equivalents that you can use to practice.

Work more on pronouncing
You need to work more on pronouncing to learn the correct vowel sounds. There are 16 vowels in Kannada. Excluding the two blended vowels, each of these vowels has a short and long version.
For the longer version, you need to simply hold the sound out longer than the short version
